Satellite view is showing Karachi, the largest city, principal seaport, and the business center of  Pakistan. Karachi is the capital of Sindh province, located in southern Pakistan at the coast of the Arabian Sea (Indian Ocean).

It was the capital of Pakistan 1947–59 before being replaced by Rawalpindi. The megacity has a population of more than 20 million people living in the metropolitan area and its suburbs.
Official language is Urdu; English is in use.

Other major cities in Pakistan are the capital city Islamabad and the capital of Punjab province Lahore.

The map shows a city map of Karachi with expressways, main roads and streets, zoom out to find the location of Jinnah International Airport Karachi (IATA code: KHI) east of the city.

Please note that ICIMOD has produced a two new satellite-based flood analysis along the Indus River covering Sindh, Southern Punjab, KPK and Balochistan provinces, Pakistan.

Map 1: Spatio-temoral flood analysis showing the flood extent continuously increasing during the last 5 days. Over 700 villages and 80 towns were identified as severly affected by flood waters and analysis was performed using geospatial database received from University of Georgia, USA. I am very thankful to Smith Nate, OFDA in helping me to get the vector datasets.

Map 2: Crop damage assessment along the Indus river covering four provinces. Crop area and pre-river was extracted using MODIS Aqua 2009 image and supervised classification technique was used. It is observed that the inundated crop areas increased from appox. 13,468.69sq.km to 18,517.98sq.km from August 15-19, 2010 for the study area with a total change of 5049.23sq.km in 5 days.
free general OPD and health awareness program for the local community at RCK Community Center Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday 16th June from 9 am to 1 pm (map attached). The general physicians would be available for the advice. This session would be in lieu of our regular weekly Monday meeting on 18th June and the attendance of members would be considered as of weekly meeting on Monday 18th June.
