Karachi Club Membership Biography
CLUB OPEN TO PERSONS OF ALL CLASSES
The membership of the club shall be open to persons of all classes irrespective of caste
and creed and who have attained the age of 24 years. The age limit may however be
relaxed in case of members married son as provided in Rule 22.
Provided that ladies may be admitted to the membership of the club as provided in Rule 2
and 2A and as temporary members under Rule 4.
2. LADY MEMBERS
(i) Any single lady i.e. unmarried lady, divorcee or widow aged 24 and above
may be admitted as a Lady Member of the club provided she is considered
eligible for Lady membership by the Balloting Committee.
(ii) The lady membership shall cease upon marriage or remarriage.
(iii) Lady members shall not be entitled to Permanent/Life membership.
(iv) Notwithstanding (iii) above, the widow of a Temporary/Permanent/Life
member will be offered Temporary/Permanent/Life membership of the
club without payment of entrance fee and without election provided she
clears all dues, if any, of her deceased husband. This offer shall be valid
for five years from the death of her husband. Moreover, the widow of a
Temporary member will be eligible for permanent membership and widow
of a Permanent member be eligible for life membership in the same
manner as the husband would have been had he not expired. Her
membership shall however cease upon remarriage.
(v) In the event there is more than one widow of a deceased
Temporary/Permanent/Life member, only the wife nominated by the
husband prior to his death will be offered membership in accordance with
(iv) above. In the absence of nomination by the husband, the first wife will
be deemed to be eligible under (iv) above, unless she declines in which
case the offer will be made to the subsequent wife in order of seniority.
(vi) The other widows who are not eligible for membership under (iv) and (v)
above will be entitled to lady membership without payment of entrance
fee and without election. Her membership shall however cease upon
remarriage.
(vii) The entrance fee for Lady Membership shall be 35% of the applicable
entrance fee for temporary members under Rule 4
DAUGHTER MEMBER
(i) Married and unmarried daughter of Temporary / Lady members of at least 5
years duration or of Permanent/Life members shall have the right to seek
membership of the club provided she has remained a household member of the
club throughout her eligible period and she is otherwise considered suitable for
membership by the Balloting Committee.
(ii) The minimum age limit for membership of an unmarried daughter is 24
years and for a married daughter 18 years.
(iii) Daughters elected under the members daughters category will not be
entitled to Permanent/Life membership of the Club.
(iv) The entrance fee for Daughter Member shall be as follows: -
(a) Married daughters below 35 years of age and unmarried daughters of any
age of Temporary/Permanent/Life Members:
• Permanent/Life Members 3% of the fee applicable under Rule 4
• Temporary Members 4% of the fee applicable under Rule 4
